Uhuru set to address the Nation ahead of polls – Nairobi – The Star Kenya

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to address the nation today (Monday) evening.
The address comes a day before Tuesday’s elections where Kenyans will be voting for a new government.
Uhuru is exiting the office after serving Kenyans for two constitutional terms.
The President had earlier this month started to move his personal belongings from the State House.
On Sunday, Uhuru held a special address to the Mt Kenya region thanking them for support and urging them to back Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
The address was broadcasted live on all Gema community vernacular radio stations.
It is during the interview that Uhuru said he is not leaving but only changing his home address and will always help the incoming regime when needed.
“We are going nowhere, we will still be working together, there is a lot of work to be done. I have only left one job and I’m going to start another one, “he said.
“If elders send me to solve a problem or send me on a task, I will still avail myself to do the work. We will all be in this country sharing the same problems and issues.”
On matters of the handshake between him and Raila, the President said he consulted his Deputy William Ruto about it.
“During the pre-handshake period, there was no peace because we had demonstrations almost every day. Why would I let a country go towards that direction when we can sit and get to an understanding?”
