A police officer who allegedly shot his girlfriend six times in 2020 has been found dead in a river.
Police Constable David Nyamweya made headlines after shooting his lover Everlyn Njoki six times after a brawl; luckily, she survived the ordeal.
A report by Daily Nation indicated the police officer's body had been found floating on River Kathita in Meru and investigations to determine whether it was suicide or murder had already started.
An interdiction letter dated January 2, 2022, was also found inside his pocket and he was also set to attend a disciplinary hearing over the shooting incident which left now 24-year-old Njoki with grave injuries.

Before the discovery of his death, Njoki told Daily Nation that she received calls from the deceased but she did not pick them.
The woman who has lived the past couple of years in fear of the police officer could not quite spell out how she felt about his death but she was hopeful she could at least return home and lead a fear-free life.
TUKO.co.ke reported when the then 22-year-old woman who was shot six times by his lover decided to forgive her tormenter and not press charges against him.

The two got into a brawl that saw the officer shoot 10 bullets directed at her from a rifle assigned to him. Four bullets missed.
One bullet hit her on the cheek, two hit her on the arm injuring her rib. The other three bullets went through her body and exited.
Nyamweya was arrested on the day of the incident.
