Shake Shack Planned For Brick Shopping Center Site – Patch
BRICK, NJ — Shake Shack is coming to Ocean County.
The burger-and-milkshake restaurant is one of two restaurants that now are named to fill two sites at the Brick Commons shopping center, in a legal notice published about an application to be heard by the Brick Township Board of Adjustment on Oct. 5.
Urban Edge Properties owns the shopping center on the corner of Route 70 and Chambers Bridge Road, which is home to Kohls and ShopRite. The company received zoning board approval in October 2020 to demolish the former Santander bank branch that sits near the Route 70 entrance and replace it with two restaurants with outdoor seating.
Urban Edge did not have the restaurants finalized in October 2020, but the legal ad says they are expected to be Shake Shack and a breakfast-brunch restaurant named First Watch.
The current application seeks to amend the approval of the site plan the zoning board approved in 2020, to reflect the two restaurants and the signs for them.
Shake Shack would have a drive-up window, and the two restaurants would have seven signs mounted on the building, according to the notice.
Shake Shack began in 2001 as a small hot dog stand in Madison Square Park in New York City, according to Investopedia, and now has more than 370 locations. There are 13 in New Jersey, including one in Wall at the Monmouth rest area on the Garden State Parkway.
First Watch offers breakfast, brunch and lunch, with everything from waffles and French toast to omelets to sandwiches and soups. There are three locations in New Jersey.
The Oct. 5 Board of Adjustment meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the Brick Township Municipal Building.
